Donation & Gratitude Center Now For The Good News We Are Not Moving The Donation Center / Thrift Shop - But We Can Not Call It A Thrift Shop - It's
Called The Donation & Gratitude Center. Most of you folks know that Puffy Paws Kitty Haven opened a Donation Center
and Thrift Shop for the direct benefit of the Kitties and some anonymous cat hater got us shut down for two weeks and
that we were looking for a new place to move our Donation Center & Thrift Shop. But now we don’t have to.
We just changed the name and the way we help the kitties.
Free Stuff
We are now giving away “ Free Stuff ” at the Donation Center for a small monetary donation .
You see some of the most caring and finest folk’s in the Community have donated merchandise so that Puffy
Paws Kitty Haven may give away these items to donors who donate .
Kind of like what they do on the PBS TV Channels.
Instead of tote bags and coffee cups. We will be giving away what the Community donated to us in order to support the
unwanted kitties of the Community . Any donors who wish to donate must put their donation
in a self address envelope, address back to the Haven, and we will be glad to do our donors a favor and mail it back
to the kitties.
We Take Any & All Items Just Like Goodwill
In order to make this work we are still in need of your unwanted items. Remember we take any and all items just like
Goodwill. We are in need of used VHS Tapes ,CD's , DVD's, Cassettes, 8-Tracks, Records, Video Games, electronics - furniture
- appliances - clothing - etc.
All donations are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law .
If
you have any items you wish to donate you may drop them off at the Donation Center or if you would like to become a volunteer
or for more information, call 941 - 473 -5406.
How To Find Us
We
are located off San Casa Drive on Woodgate Ct , which is the East entrance to Englewood’s Walmart, (If you face
the front entrance to Walmart - look right and you see a set of storage units,Ours is the last one on the left) . The Donation
Center will be open Mon - Sun from 12 pm - 7pm.
Open Letter To The Public - We Need Power
Puffy
Paws Kitty Haven is located in Englewood, Florida. We are a 2,800 square foot, 501(c) (3) non-profit, free-roaming, cage-less,
no-kill haven and rescue for unwanted kitties.
Our mission is to contribute to a better life for unwanted
and homeless kitties, to protect them from neglect and cruelty, and to provide a safe haven for them in a no-kill environment
until secure, permanent, loving and responsible homes can be found.
We have been rescuing kitties since 1997 and
became a Non-profit in 2006. We just received our 501(C)(3) exemption from the IRS in March.
In the Spring of
2007 - Puffy Paws Kitty Haven started its adoption program. Since than we have found over 125 kitties "Fur-Ever"
homes ! All kitties are spay and neuter.
What makes us truly unique and different than most rescues is that my
wife and I live, eat and sleep with over a hundred kitties because Puffy Paws Kitty Haven is a loving home for unwanted kitties.
Most people when they think of a hundred kitties in one home think it’s a dirty sinking mess but that is not
how we live.
Tami Patzer of the Gasparilla Gazette wrote“ Puffy Paws Kitty Haven is immaculate and if all
the cats hid under the bed, anyone entering the home would have no clue cats even lived there.” Most
of the kitties that live in Haven are owner give-ups from the hard economic times and house foreclosure in the area.
Why We Are Different Puffy Paws Kitty Haven takes care of the largest
amount of special need kitties than any other rescue or shelter in the area.
Here at Puffy Paws we specialize in
taking care of special need kitties, that would have been euthanized at other highly publicize traditional shelters and or
rescues because of their medical conditions.
We are set up to handle the different medical concerns the kitties
have by separating them into their very own living quarters in two different buildings. Kate Spinner From The Sarasota Herald-Tribune
wrote that we are " Set up more like a bed-and-breakfast than a traditional shelter." for kitties.
We
have the 2000 sq foot " Haven Home " which house our healthy adoptable kitties, and our permanent residences of
the Haven, who have physical, emotional and behavioral problems.
Our second building is 800 sq foot and is refereed
to as the May Lynch Rescue Center. The Rescue Center houses the Kitty Angels Club.
Our kitties with Feline
Leukemia are housed in one of the two separated 400 sq feet rooms. These Kitties are members of the Kitty Angels Club because
they are living angles because they would have been euthanized at other highly publicize traditional shelters and or rescues
while showing no signs of being sick.
We just took in and saved a life of a kitty name Mew Mew, that was scheduled
to be euthanized today because she has feline leukemia.
Unwanted People Helping Unwanted
Kitties
Many Rescues and Humane Societies have a paid staff and an army of volunteers. Over here at Puffy
Paws we are not as fortunate as other rescues in the area to be afforded such a talent pool. To our surprise these groups
refuse to use Community Service personal.
But we have tapped into this free talent pool. Folks who need to fulfill
their debt to society by doing community service hours. By utilizing this resource and their skills, the kitties will have
a pool of skilled and unskilled labor at their beckon meow.
And at the same time we are helping folks through work
with the kitties.
Our Dilemma Of Raising Funds Is On The New York Post Web
Site
Fund raising on a daily basis is a up hill battle. The kitties go through 300 pounds of cat litter,
50 pounds of wet food and over 20 pounds of dry food every single day.
Our struggle with raising the funds every
single day is featured on the New York Post web site with a great Video.(See It Below)
We May Have To Shut Down
We may not be able to keep the doors
open without power. This is not the first time we have been here due to the tremendous cost of taking care of the kitties
daily and medical needs. In January we were featured on ABC 7 News from Sarasota and NBC2 from Fort Myers
Donation Center And Thrift Shop Forced To Closes For 2 Weeks By Anonymous
Cat Hater
Due to the generosity of the Community in January the bill was
paid and in the next few months we tried to become more self sufficient by opening a Donation Center and thrift shop, next
to Wal-Mart in Englewood Florida but we have had a major setback with our Donation Center & Thrift shop being
forced to closed for two weeks. The Englewood Sun Herald did an article on this. (See Below)
We were
told by the County Code Enforcement that someone made a anonymous complaint and now we could not sell any donated goods
out of the unit but we can accept donation. That was to be our main source of income for the kitties .
Now For The Good News - We Are Not Moving The Donation Center / Thrift Shop - But We Can Not Call It A Thrift
Shop
As you read that Puffy Paws Kitty Haven opened a Donation Center and Thrift
Shop for the direct benefit of the Kitties. And that we were looking for a new place to move our Donation Center & Thrift

In order to continue to operate we must have power to cool
the Haven down to 75 degrees for the kitties. So to ensure power, the outstanding balance that Puffy Paws owes Florida Power
and Light is $574.95 plus a deposit to re - open the account which usually is two months of the highest which could
be for us up $1500.00 dollars Local News Was Contacted
We
have contacted NBC2 News from Fort Myers, ABC7 News from Sarasota and SNN6 News from Sarasota to let the Community know of
our situation.
We Contacted The Florida Governor Office
We talked to Jeffiner Britt -from The Florida Governors office ( 850 - 488 - 4441 ), she said “The Governor
office did not control or regulate FPL since it was private company “. She called the Public Service Commission and
she said will turn over the information to her contact for the Governor’s office Ellen Plend. ( 800 342 -3552)
to mediate the account. This is when we were told what we needed to do.
